I don't know why I'm down
There's a sadness here with no clear cause, and having no reason can make you feel like you've lost the right to be sad. You haven't. Feelings don't always come with an explanation attached, and that doesn't make them any less valid or real. You're allowed to feel low without filing a report on why. You can simply be gentle with yourself today.
A sadness with no obvious cause is more common than most people admit. Sometimes the low feeling is the cumulative weight of many small things, each too quiet to notice on its own. Sometimes it is simply a season the heart goes through, the way the weather has its grey days. Not being able to name the reason does not make the feeling imaginary. It makes it one of the quieter mysteries of being human, and it is still real.
You do not have to earn your sadness with a sad event. The feeling showed up, and tending to it is the only response it really needs. You are allowed to feel low without understanding exactly why. You are allowed to be gentle with yourself anyway. You are not ungrateful, and you are not broken. You are a person whose heart sometimes runs heavy, and that is a perfectly ordinary, human thing. It will pass, and you are worthy of kindness until it does.
Read one, sit with it, and draw as many more as you need.

I don't know why I'm down
“You don't need a reason to feel low. Sometimes the sadness arrives without a return address, your limbs suddenly made of something heavier than they were an hour ago. You're still allowed to treat it gently.”
