Something hard is ahead

There's something difficult on the horizon, and the dread of it can weigh more than the thing itself. You don't have to feel ready to be able; readiness often shows up only once you've begun. You have met hard things before and found, partway through, that you were stronger than the worry promised. Whatever is ahead, you will get through it the way you have gotten through what came before, one step at a time.

The mind has a way of running ahead and carrying a difficulty in advance, before it has even arrived, and that imagined weight can feel enormous. It is a very human way to approach a challenge, and it is not a sign that you are not ready. Readiness rarely arrives before you begin. More often it shows up in the middle, once you are already doing the thing, gathered by the doing itself.

You do not have to meet whatever is ahead all at once. You can meet it the way anyone meets something hard: one small step at a time. And you are not as alone as you feel. There are people who would want to help if you let them, and reaching for them is not weakness. When you look back at the hardest parts of your past, you are looking at proof that you have already survived every version of this that mattered.

Read one, sit with it, and draw as many more as you need.

Need a Win

Something hard is ahead

The hard thing ahead isn't bigger than you; it only looks that way from here, where you're facing all of it at once, your pulse drumming in your temples. You only ever face one step at a time.
