I have nothing left

You've given and given until the well went dry, and now you're running on a reserve that ran out a while ago. Having nothing left isn't a character flaw; it's what happens to anyone who carries too much for too long. You don't have to earn rest, and you don't have to be productive to be worth something. For the length of this page, there is nothing to give and no one to be. You can just stop.

Almost everyone has known the feeling of having nothing left, of being emptied out past the point where rest feels like it could still help. That exhaustion is not a failure of character. It is the predictable result of a person who has been giving more than they have been receiving, and it happens to the strongest, kindest people too. It is not a sign that something is wrong with you. It is a sign that you have been giving more than you have been receiving, and that imbalance is not yours to carry alone.

Recharging is not a reward you must earn. It is a need, as basic as water, and you are allowed to meet it without a reason. Let yourself be empty for a moment, without apology. It is in that stillness that every tired person finds the strength to go on. You are not broken for needing to rest. You are a person who has given a great deal, and now it is your turn to be filled. Rest is how the giving continues.

Read one, sit with it, and draw as many more as you need.

Exhausted

I have nothing left

Rest is not quitting. Even the ground lies still for a season before it grows anything again. You are not falling behind. You are letting the soil recover so something can grow.
