I can't seem to rest

You're worn out and yet rest keeps slipping away, as if your body has forgotten how to power down. There's a special frustration in being this tired and still unable to settle, and none of it is your fault. A mind that won't rest is usually a mind that has been on guard for a very long time. You don't have to force yourself into calm. Just being here, doing nothing, already counts as a kind of rest.

There is a particular exhaustion that comes from being tired and still unable to rest, as if the switch that should let you relax has worn out. This is deeply common, and it is not a fault in you. A mind that cannot settle is very often a mind that has been on alert for a long time, scanning for problems, staying ready, and it does not stop just because you want it to. Forcing calm rarely works, and it is not the answer.

You do not have to force yourself into rest for rest to count. Simply being here, doing nothing, letting your shoulders down, is already a form of rest, even if your mind keeps moving. You do not have to do it perfectly. You just have to be a little gentler with yourself than the exhaustion is letting you be. Weariness that will not settle is not you failing at rest. It is you, worn from being on guard for so long. You can let the guard down a little here, even if only for a moment, and that counts.

Read one, sit with it, and draw as many more as you need.

Exhausted

I can't seem to rest

When you finally have a moment to rest, your mind keeps sprinting and your body will not settle. That wired but exhausted state is real, and it is not your fault. It is what happens when the alarm has been ringing for so long the silence feels dangerous.
