Facing the unknown

Not knowing what happens next can feel like standing at an edge with no floor in sight. The unknown is uncomfortable precisely because you're awake to it, not because you're handling it wrong. You have made it through every uncertain chapter so far without a map, finding your footing as you went. You don't need to see the whole path to be okay where you're standing right now.

No one has a map for the future. Every person who has ever walked into something new did so without knowing exactly how it would go. That is not a failing any of us can avoid; it is simply the nature of a life that is still being written. The feelings of not knowing, of uncertainty, of not being able to see the road ahead, are not signs you are lost or unprepared. They are the honest experience of a person standing at the start of something.

You have been here before, more than you remember. Every first day, every new place, every step into the unknown you ever took, you took without a guarantee, and you found your way. The floor has held for you every time. It will hold again. You are not falling as you take this next step. You are moving forward, and forward has always been enough.

Read one, sit with it, and draw as many more as you need.

Facing the unknown

You can't see what's coming, and the space between your ribs tightens at the thought. But the dark ahead is just dark, not dangerous. A room you walk into with the lights off. Unlit is not the same as unsafe.
